Well, here I am again! Life has been good, the holidays are over and uni has fully started again. Next year I have to study abroad, so in preparation of that I've been having Italian lessons for a while now. If all goes well, I'll spend an entire year in Rome, woohoo! I really just can't wait, it'll be so cool.

In a few weeks, on my brother's birthday, I'm going to London, where I'm going to see the Phantom of the Opera! I'm a huge fan, but this is the first time I'll see it live and I'm so excited! We have front seats, which costed a lot, but it's going to be worth it, I'm sure. :)

As for jobs, I'm mainly working at random events now. The other day I had to sell drinks and pizzas at the concert of The Police in the Amsterdam Arena, and last week I had to prepare the business lounge in the PSV stadion for the Championsleague match. I love it, because you often get to see small bits of these things where I'd normally never go! And the atmosphere is really great too, and it's just nice because you never know where you'll be next week.

That's it for now :)

My niece reminded me of the fact that I hadn't updated in quite a long time, so here I am, haha.

I got back from France last week, where I went to visit a friend who stayed there for ten months as part of an internship. It was in the south of France, but we stopped in Paris for a day to see all the fancy things there like the Eiffel Tower and the Notre Dame and the Seine by night.

We arrived in Paris at 5 in the morning and had to wait 7 hours before we could check in at our hotel. On one hand this was really awful, because we were all exhausted from the drive and we hadn't slept in 20 hours, but on the other hand I loved it because we could slowly see the city awaken and we got to see everything without all the tourists. It was a nice, pure experience. We had breakfast in a random cafetaria (there was of course French loaf, croissants and orange juice) and had our first experience with really gross toilets. Yuck.

I insisted on having breakfast under the Eiffel Tower and we did, although for my fellow travelers it wasn't really breakfast anymore, but they ate cookies while I ate sandwiches with real Dutch peanutbutter and everybody was happy.

The Notre Dame on the inside was only pretty from one side, the front was not that interesting. The inside I did like, especially the brick-like ceilings and the sheer hugeness of it all (I'm a sucker for large bows).

We went to have dinner in a random restaurant and I ate duck, because the last time I ate duck in France it was heavenly. Of course this time wasn't as good, but I had salmon for a starter and that's always delicious.

As for the people, I really expected the worst. Everybody always says that Parisians are snobbish and unkind and only the week before the mayor of Paris (or something) had been on tv to proclaim that Paris had to become a friendlier city. Maybe it was because we at least tried to speak French instead of just immediately babbling away in our mother language, or maybe everybody we talked to were just in a good mood, but they were all really nice to us and we had no nasty encounters there whatsoever.

We arrived in Argentat, the place in the south where my friend lived, in the middle of the night. It's a cute, not so big place in the Dordogne with the river running right through it. It turned out there was a festival in town there, probably because of the 14th of July, a national holiday on which the French celebrate the end of the monarchy. On this day there are lots of festivities and fireworks and drunk French people. It's a very national holiday and the national anthem gets played a lot.

The next few days were spent trying to speak our best French, eating French loaf, listening to the various bands, eating crèpes and pizza and lying around playing "Wie ben ik" with pads on our foreheads. The most exciting thing we did was canoeing. Marilyn knew of a good canoeing place but it turned out that they required you to take a guide with you, so we searched for another one, run by a funny, grey man who was very eager to help us and was actually very good at English. It was quite a large route and a girl fell out of the canoe and completely freaked out, but overall it was quite relaxing and fun and we got a nice tan from it.

We also went swimming in a lake, but I didn't like it very much because there were bugs and other weird things in the water, haha. I really don't like bugs. Or weird things, for that matter.

We also went to visit a waterfall, which was so gorgeous. We hardly have real nature like that in the Netherlands of course, and that really is a shame. The waterfall itself wasn't even the prettiest thing: the smell of the water and the trees, the sight of all the greenness and the little stream with all the rocks on it... everything was just perfect.

http://twitcat_.livejournal.com Well, hello. If you're reading this, it is probably not 3:22 am anymore. Why am I up and writing on my deserted web page at this hour?

Because I've been trying to write an essay for the past six hours and I'm going mad. I am so bloody tired and all I really want is to sleep for a really long time, but I have nothing except for a really bad draft and the knowledge that even if I finish this, I can only sleep for a few hours because I have to get up at 7.

Somewhere around 12 I was still optimistic and decided to make a song about the sad, bald christmas tree that is still standing beside me. But right now, guhhh. I wish it was over. This head ache is not getting better.

Oh, but on the other hand it's not so bad. A student's life, that's what you could call it at its worst. The rest of this day will be crap but then I'll go to bed at 8 and sleep 12 hours and then it'll all be fine again. The most important thing is that I finish this darned essay.

Morituri te salutant.

Hmz. I know I haven't been posting here a lot, but the main reason for that is that this year I'm posting an entry a day in my LiveJournal. So yeah, at some point you just run out of things to say, now don't you? :D

University's been okay. My exams are almost over now, only one more to go. I got back the results of two: one not so good, the other not so bad. Quite moderate, actually. Oh well.

I think I'll add some more content here later. I've been fooling around in Flash, so hopefully I'll have some nice movies soon that I can put up. Yay!

Well, hello. Long time no see!

November has come and gone, and so has NaNoWriMo. It was a hell of a month, but I won, yay!

So yes, that was a hectic month, but now that it's over it won't be much better either. My exams are coming up, so that means two months of studying and feeling guilty whenever I do something fun instead of something judicial. Hmz. But oh well.

I'd better get started.

Here, I told you! There's your total revamp. I wanted to make a new layout and decided to not go with my regular fandoms (Eddie Izzard, Harry Potter, Placebo, whatever), but to use pictures of movies that I've seen recently. I also redid the contents layout and updated various of the sections.

Take that!

Welcome! Welcome! Seeing as I haven't updated this thing in about nine months, I think you won't be terribly sad that I'm not going to explain to you in detail what happened to me every day for the past few months. I'll leave it at this: I'm in my second year now (passed all my exams but one), I had a job and quit it, I have a girlfriend and at the moment I am quite hungry and quite broke. Yep. Yep. That pretty much sums it up. Any questions can be sent to the little tree in my non-existent backyard.

I really need to make a new layout for this website. I will do so later. Or not. >:D

Wow, I haven't updated this thing in ages, now have I? I mean, not like anyone but myself cares, but hey, I like to at least give the impression that my sites have not gone dead.

I'm completely mad about Rufus Wainwright these days. Seriously, I'll let the stats do the talking for me. He just has this amazing voice. His lyrics are beyond me -- I really don't have a clue what his point is in most of his songs, but they are just so wonderfully composed in such a different and refreshing way that I can easily look beyond that. I could listen to this man forever. Well, okay, not forever, but for a very long time anyway.

At school everything's been well. I passed my first exam -- against my expectations. In fact, I was positive I had failed it, but I did remarkably well. The next two are coming up already, bleh. But I'll be fine.

For the rest, well, la di da. Been enjoying lots of free time, but an end will come to that since I'll have to find a job... I hate being such a poor slob. I mean, I suppose it's a part of being a student, but gee, I didn't think it'd be this bad.

the mind has so many pictures
why can't i sleep with my eyes open
the mind has so many memories
can you remember what it looks like when i cry

I got a room! Whee! So yeah, excited about the entire thing! I'm going there this Tuesday to settle things and hopefully get the keys.

As for other things, I'm currently in the process of rewatching the past Lost episodes. It's very addicting, I must say. It's also quite clarifying, seeing as I'd missed some episodes which sometimes made me completely lose any grip on the story's plot (I never had a clue what was going on with Claire -- after seeing episode 10 it all makes a lot more sense, I must say XD). Much fun! So yeah. Need to see a few more episodes before I can go back to watching the new episodes every friday... fun!

So, what shall I watch tonight? Monty Python, Man on the Moon or perhaps Beauty and the Beast? Hm, I feel like watching the last one. Yeah.
